Avishi Gurnani is a passionate author who feels the urge to express her feelings and convey her ideas through her writing. She has published books including the Poeartry series—books in which poetry comes together with art in a blissful union, Tales in a Tale of a Tail (stories form Kalipar inspired by her tales to her brother at bed-time), Ties of Hope, a story about an ancient cruel Indian practice called sati, where a wife would be forced to sacrifice herself on her own funeral pyre, My Culinary Adventures, a book about her adventures with food in India as she discovers her roots and history through food, as well as the Mystery of the Archaic Atbara.
Her writing has received awards including two silver and one bronze award for the Queen’s Commonwealth competition, a first place prize in the Livable Cities competition, a Special Mention for the Shepton Snowdrop festival (younger than 12 category), the Youth Honour Awards for Skipping Stones, the longlist for Minds Shine Bright, the first prize for the Elmbridge Literary Competition, the second place award for the National Poetry Competition, and several published articles in the Straits Times.
